ABOUT US
True to its mission since 1937, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor helps young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. We achieve this through a commitment to quality programs and services in an environment that is safe, nurturing and inspiring.
Presently the Club serves 1,800 youth per day at 13 sites making us the largest private daily service provider to at-risk youth in the entire L.A. Harbor/South Bay area.
The Los Angeles Harbor Clubs offer programs that address not only members’ needs but also their interests. Our Triple A Strategy provides high-quality programming and activities in Academics, Arts and Athletics. Our core program areas, combined with our leadership development programming and daily recreation, offer well-rounded and comprehensive after-school activity choices.

HISTORY
One of the oldest Boys & Girls Clubs in California, we were originally established as the Boys Club of San Pedro in 1937 by the San Pedro Civitan Club and John S. Gibson who would later serve on the Los Angeles City Council for thirty years. The name was changed to the Boys & Girls Club of San Pedro in 1994 to reflect the hundreds of girls in our membership. In 2002, we opened the Port of LA Boys & Girls Club and, in 2004, we merged with the Wilmington Boys & Girls Club to create the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor.
In response to the increasing demand and the needs of the youth we serve, we built two High School Centers, divided our Clubs into separate centers for elementary, middle and high school students, and greatly enhanced our enrichment programming. Today, we are the largest private daily service provider to at-risk youth in the Los Angeles Harbor area, operating three Clubhouses, providing programming on eleven school campuses, and offering sports and recreation programming at the Daniel’s Field Recreation Center. We serve over 9,000 youth (ages 5 to 18) every year.
